State Parks to Close Point Cabrillo Light Station State Historic Park |

Recently, on June 9, 2009, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of The Point Cabrillo Light Station. State Parks announced on May 13, 2011 that, after 103 years of continuous operation, the Point Cabrillo Light Station, now a State Historic Park, is scheduled to be closed no later than July 1, 2012.
The Point Cabrillo Lightkeepers Association (PCLK), managers of the park since 2002, want our park visitors, our volunteers, and the public to know that we will be making every effort to keep the park open. While there are several complex issues that will have to be addressed by PCLK and State Parks to prevent closing the Light Station, PCLK will be working diligently to resolve these issues as we negotiate an agreement to operate the park on a long term basis.
These negotiations have begun, and we anticipate that they will result in a mutually beneficial agreement that will allow the Point Cabrillo Light Station State Historic Park to remain open for at least another 100 years.
As appropriate, we will post progress information about the park on our web site and the Point Cabrillo Light Station FaceBook page, http://www.facebook.com/PointCabrilloLight. Please email your comments or suggestions about the light Station to us at info@pointcabrillo.org or give us a call at (707) 937-6123.
Signed, The Point Cabrillo Lightkeepers Association Board of Directors |
